If you stop at the Community Center at noon on the first Tuesday of the month, you'll find a group of ladies chatting, laughing, and generally having a good time. The meeting begins with lunch and ends with games. Don't let that casual atmosphere fool you; the ladies of the Women's Club take their Bylaws seriously: "The object of this organization shall be to build goodwill, better fellowship, to work together toward the betterment of our community for all concerned."
Several local charities benefit from the generosity of the Club, but it's no surprise that the Birthday Bags are the most appreciated of these donations. Once per quarter, the group fills each bag with a cake mix, frosting, paper plates, napkins, balloons, candles, and a small toy. The completed bags are delivered to the Food Basket in Mountain Home and the Food Pantry in Bull Shoals, and are very popular with the children who receive them.
